Our Story

Tristan's story begins late January 28th / early January 29th , 2016. It actually begins with me ...

Sometime in the middle of the night/ early morning on the 28th or 29th, I started having seizures. I was 29 weeks pregnant. I was in a deep sleep and have no recollection of the events. My husband found me in the spare bedroom in the middle of a seizure, and I was rushed to the hospital. Tristan was born via C-section in a matter of minutes. Again, I have no recollection of these events.

Normally, that would be the end of the medical emergency, but I did not recover. I went from sudden onset preeclampsia to PRESS to HELLP to aspirated pneumonia. In this process, my organs started to fail. I was hand pumped for hours and eventually placed in a paralytic coma.

Tristan was transferred to a higher level NICU. He was 2 lb 2 oz.

Tristan spent just under three months in the NICU. Amazingly, aside from some underdeveloped lungs, he had no other health issues. We took him home 5 weeks ago on oxygen.  This is a picture of him coming home.
Here is a picture of him today.

The rest of this blog is the continuation of his journey.
